VUOS is one of the largest Czech firms dealing with research and development in the field of organic chemistry and toxicology. The applied research and development of chemical technologies have belonged among the most significant activities of the Institute for more than 60 years, and their results affected a number of branches of Czech industry.

VUOS was founded in 1941. Its main purpose was R&D support of Czech chemical industry in the area of organic syntheses. During 90's VUOS had to go through many changes including privatisation and finding new business activities.

VUOS is a stock company. Our main shareholder is Synthesia that keeps 100% of shares. Synthesia is the largest producer of fine chemicals in Czech Republic.

The present Institute's activities fall into four basic areas:

• Production of Fine Chemicals
• Environmental services, toxicology & analytics
• Research & Development
• Process Engineering

VUOS can offer the whole sequence of relevant services - from literature search, process development, laboratory syntheses, process scaling up, to pilot plant verification and toxicology testing. Combination of these abilities renders VUOS nearly ideal for cooperation in new R&D projects in the area of pharmaceuticals.

VUOS has about 280 employees, 120 - university degree and 25 - PhD degree.

VUOS has been working continually on improving quality of its services and products. Since 2000 our company has been audited by Lloyd's company for ISO 9001:2008 certificate . Our analytical and toxicological laboratories work under GLP condition. VUOS owns a number of certificates and authorisations in the field of environmental protection, toxicology and analytical chemistry.
